What I find anoying in the sites directory, is that every user can see all the sites, including the sites this user does not have rights to.

anyone with a solution?

Unfortunately yes - deleting them and re-creating them is the only way I've found to change the order.

hello
Your article is great. However I still need one last thing : how to arange the order of the TABS . I need to set my specific tab in first position. should I destroy all other tabs in the TABS list and the recreate them?
Thanks a ton

Hi,
I would like to be able to customize the site categories from the site Collection. I could not see "the Sites list" as mentioned in the 3rd paragraph of this article. Does it mean my site collection is missing the "Site list"?
Your help is much appreciated.

Glen,

Great post.
I am trying to customize the Site Directory page. I'd like to add 3 separate columns. Each column uses the Table of Contents web part for each of the company Director teams.

The page does not have a 3 column view. I went to SharePoint Designer to add a row to the page, split it in 3 and added webparts to each of the cells. I noticed that SPD took me to a different_layouts page but I persevered anyway.

I went back to the browser and added in the Table of Contents webparts. All appeared to work.

However when I logged in as a read-only user the page only showed one column with the 3 TOC Director sites listed in the 1 column instead of the 3 I created in the webpart.

Thanks in advance,
Amanda

I have a MOSS 2007 portal. I have 10 site collections in it. There is Links list in one of the site site collection. I want to display it as a List view in all site collections.
If i click on add webpart i cannot see that List other site collections. How can i show links list in all site collections without making users to navigate to the site where the list belongs ?

Thanks

Here's a good one...
We use ssl for site links in a particular portal of ours. When I add sites to a category type (Region, Division, etc.) the link/URL get an "http" reference and not an "https" reference and hence, a broken link. By adding an "s" to the http, the link works.

The confusing part is that the site's URL configuration in the property sheet is specifies "https", but SharePoint is stripping out the "s" for some reason. Does anyone know why this might be happening? Until I find a fix, our Site Directory is almost useless.

In regards to the category.aspx and
categoryresults.aspx pages ...

how does the column info get propogated into the querystring? - I messed around with my pages before I found this article and - now my categroy.aspx page doesn't hook into categroyresults anymore.

Any help would be appreciated
